Ocs Korea The Forgotten War
Posted By admin On 14.09.19The Victory Games version, “The Korean War: June 1950-May 1951” is hands down my favorite. Not only is it my favorite Korean War game it’s my favorite game, period. The scenarios are (mostly) competitive and fun, and the campaign game has no equal.

The Korean War stands as a key event in world history. It is well-deserving of further study. The first shooting confrontation of the Cold War, and the first limited war of the nuclear age, it is the only time since the Second World War that two of the world's major military powers fought one another - in this case the United States and China.
Diplomatically, the war offers an interesting view of the miscalculation and ineptitude on both sides that led to open conflict. It also brings to light the United Nations' first opportunity to play a leading role in world military events.
OCS Korea: The Forgotten War covers the first year of the war and highlights the mobile phases of the battle. Campaign victory is determined most often by the stable positions of the lines (relative to the 'neck' of the peninsula). A number of shorter scenarios are also included to allow players to explore specific operations or to use as a training scenario before taking on one of the campaign games.
OCS Korea: The Forgotten War was initially released in 2003. This preorder offering is a reprint of the 9th game in the acclaimed Operational Combat Series, with changes made to address errata and to better conform to the OCS v4.0 series rules.
OCS Korea: The Forgotten War contains:
3 full-color 22'x34' mapsheets
4 full countersheets
1 OCS v4.0 series rulebook
1 Korea: The Forgotten War game specific rulebook
2 OCS v4.0 charts and tables booklets
1 Korea: The Forgotten War charts and tables booklet
box and 2 six-sided dice
OCS Korea: The Forgotten War has 15 scenarios broken down as follows:
5 1-map scenarios
4 2-map scenarios
6 3-map scenarios

Comments
Version 1.05 No Fog of WarThis version of the module adds numerous scenario fixes (primarily in reinforcement tables). Also added 4.3 charts, corrected TEC, supply dumps and cache, and aircraft unit enhancements. Many thanks to Herman Wu for his hours of work on this one.
Version 1.03 No Fog of WarMinor fixes
Version 1.02 No Fog of WarThis version of the module adds numerous small fixes and a revised Masking procedure. Now you can only mask units that belong to side you are logged into. Also added is an action to temporarily highlight all units of a formation. Finally, Step Loss markers have a 'zero' value available for increased FoW. Alternatively, you can use a new Step Loss Text Label function to track step losses without using markers at all.
Please Note You should not use this version of the module if you are currently playing an existing game created in the 1.0 No Fog Of War module, as you will find the pieces moved off their previous locations.
A new 1.0 version of the module has been added with the 2nd edition map and counter changes. All the old George Hayward custom code has been removed. Fog of War is now handled by manually masking counters and/or Division Holding Boxes.
George Hayward developed all of the Fog of War (FOW) enabled OCS modules. Sadly, he passed away in June of 2013. I (Bill Gustafson) have uploaded the most current FOW OCS modules from his now defunct web page, and have removed references to that web page and his email address. If you have more recently updated modules please let me know, and I will upload them. If you find bugs with the existing modules you can also let me know, and I can try to fix them. I do not have copies of the previous versions of the modules, so if for some reason you want those to be centrally available, please email me and tell me where to get them.
5.2 Custom code recompiled for Vassal versions 3.2.14+Latest Versions of all FOW OCS Modules will be put in a centralized web location at some point in the near future.
Instructions on how to use all 4.0 modules can be found by pressing the 'Module Use Instructions' button in the module. Failure to read the instructions will lead to frustration.
Release Notes:
4.1 rc2 fixes the scenarios which were wrecked in 4.1 rc1
4.1 rc3 fixes a problem where a player couldn't control his own pieces in an on-map box
4.1 rc4 is due to Jim Pyle. - Correct 4.0 tables plus supply token merged with supply, plus K-Tex markers with labels.
5.0 contains the counter and map changes for the 2nd edition of Korea. It also includes a number of right-click menu/shortcut key options to add appropriate markers (DG, low supply, step losses, etc.) and to mark mech units as Fueled and air units as Inactive. Menu options are also available to clear DG and Trainbusting counters by side and to reset Fueled markers.
