The font viewer that I have reviewed earlier today is nice if you want to get a quick overview over all installed fonts on the system. If you want an advanced font manager that can install and uninstall fonts among other things you might be interested in a software named AMP Font Viewer.

AMP Font Viewer displays all installed fonts after you start it up on your system. Actually, it loads two windows right away with the first being the main program window that highlights all installed fonts and provides you with samples of how that font looks like, and the second with a quick overview over all fonts installed so that you see how all fonts look like on a glance.

The main window allows you to select any font from the list to preview it in the sample area. Here you can also modify the font size as well as formatting options such as bold or italic.

Instead of displaying a default sample text, you can switch the display to display the Ansi characters 33-255, or by entering custom test instead that you type in or paste directly.

You can switch to the not installed fonts tab to preview fonts that are currently not installed. This can be a selection of fonts in a directory on the computer, on a network drive or optical disc.

A right-click on an installed font allows you to uninstall that font on the system A backup of the fonts that you uninstall is created automatically so that you can restore the font in case you made an error.

Note that it is possible to uninstall system fonts as well, so make sure you uninstall only fonts that were installed by third-party applications or you.

The second window acts as a preview window for all installed fonts. Since it displays every font using it, it is easy to find interesting fonts on the list or fonts to uninstall. A right-click menu is available here as well to remove fonts and perform other operations such as adding fonts to categories for easier handling.

One of the nicest features of the application is to install fonts temporarily which means that the fonts will be available in Windows for as long as the AMP Font Viewer software is running.

If you work with Photoshop every now and then and need fonts for that you might group all those extra fonts that you do not need in other applications in the Photoshop category and install this category temporarily when you work with Adobe Photoshop.

AMP Font Viewer is available as a portable version for Windows or a setup version.
